A pedestrian accident occurred by the intersection of U.S. 441 and CR 68 in Okeechobee County, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old. The authorities believe it was a possible hit and run, and continue to search for the vehicle. The victim’s home city has not yet been determined.
Currently, there is no description or identification of the driver. There is, however, some information on the car that caused the accident. Local police believe it is a compact vehicle that should be missing a right side mirror and that may have a damaged right front panel and amber light.
Although the vehicle’s missing mirror helps determine that the victim was walking on the right side of the road before being struck, it cannot establish where exactly the victim was walking or standing. In such case, the driver may or may not have been negligent—but the motorist’s problem will be the probable hit and run.
In the state of Florida, it is generally considered a crime for a driver to leave an accident scene that he is knowingly involved in.
